THEME DIARY PROJECT
This project is designed for 9th-10th grades and can be adapted to be either a formative or summative assessment.
Students are required to choose four themes from a novel and analyze how each theme affects both the progagonist and themselves by writing diary entries.
Students write two diary entries for each theme: one from the point of view of the protagonist, and one from their own perspective. Textual evidence is required for each diary entry from the protagonist's point of view.
One illustration per theme is required. Students must visually represent how this theme affects either the protagonist or themselves.
This project requires students to utilize higher order thinking skills to address multiple themes from dual perspectives, drawing from their personal experiences to make meaningful connections to the text.
