SOUNDTRACK PROJECT
This project is designed for 9th-10th grades as a summative assessment at the end of a novel or short story unit. It can be adapted for 11th-12th grades as well.
Students create a soundtrack to accompany a novel, explaining why each song compliments or emphasizes the events and experiences of characters in the text. Their song choices and analysis are compiled into a pamphlet that fits into the cover of a CD case, as the album art and lyrics would fit into a professional CD.
This project can be used with any fictional work, but is most effective when paired with novels that are heavy on character development. This particular instruction sheet is adapted to accompany the novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
